After the construction activities getting green signal from different state authorities in lockdown – 3, it has been decided that every construction site would have a Covid Marshal to ensure that health and hygiene measures are followed and adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPEs) would be made available at labour camps.

As per the guidelines issued by the Centre it is mandatory for every labourer to undergo a health check-up and remain quarantined for a fortnight before beginning work at the site. An undertaking would be given by every worker which would specify if he had been in contact with a Covid-19 positive case and other health-related details.

All workers, including asymptomatic workers, would be then quarantined for a fortnight at the work site. No worker would be allowed to leave the labour camp after completing the quarantine. There would be soap dispensers and sanitizers at the entry and exit points of the main construction site. The government has also banned all tobacco products –– gutka, paan and tobacco –– from the work sites.

While all labourers would be provided face masks, tissues, goggles and gloves, those responsible for sanitation and cleaning of the areas would be given coveralls. Apart from this there will be a weekly doctor arriving for health check-up of labourers.
